Why choose Clinisoft as a partner

Deep expertise in healthcare is build into Clinisoft’s genome. When I started as a young designer in a startup that manufactured intensive care information systems, the company already had an operating model, in which the product was implemented with the international market in mind together with local end users. As a result of the acquisition, the product grew over time to become a successful part of a large international company’s portfolio. The same approach has proved to be the best in numerous other projects and companies along my way. Only close cooperation with end users has guaranteed applications which end users are happy with and which can also have a strong international market.

We develop software with both patient and the end user in our mind

Another lesson from experience relates to the core process.

The general hospital informations systems are still modelled around the administrative processes. It is understandable, but hides the fact that the patient is the one whose benefit of the care he/she gets is what the professionals aim to optimize. The process of care is not a one fixed model, but often a mixup of several models taken in use depending on the patients status. That means the software must also adapt to the status of the patient.

Also, after my over thirty years in the business, we still tend to build our solutions on industrial platforms, like relational databases and application server frameworks. They are just ok when talking about managing euros in a bank system, but not ok at all in scientific environment the healthcare is. Concurrent patient monitor can measure tens or hundreds of parameters from the patient. Add same amount of lab parameters, other observations, mixture of drugs pumped to patient and you’ll get on troubles with measured data if you only can manage floats and integers with your platform.

Something has anyway changed in the health IT industry. HL7 has done great progress on interfacing the solutions, and modelling the healthcare environment. HL7 Reference Information Model is one great example of progress in the business. Because of that work we have HL7 FHIR, an industry standard that has clarified communication between solution. Another example is OpenEHR, that has created a standard data model for healthcare information, helping healthcare organisations getting rid of vendor lock-in.

We Clinisoftians have been front-runners in many of those developments, taking new methods in use first time. We have not succeeded every time, but have learned a lot and are ready to use and deliver our knowledge to benefit of the industry as well as the healthcare organisations.

Safety and quality are at the heart of software development

The third doctrine relates to product safety. Due to the nature of health care work, the professional must obtain a reliable picture of the patient’s status and have tools to modify the treatment plan in a very limited time. The data collection must take place alongside patient care, without slowing it down or hindering it. All this requires data aggregation, processing, integrations and automation. Such applications are covered by the EU Medical Device Regulation. We are committed to acting in accordance with the legislation, using the best working methods.

That’s why Clinisoft. We work together with healthcare professionals for the best interests of the patient in cooperation with medical and care professionals. Good to be home again.
